Note received from Ministry of Foreign Affairs this evening
asks that an official request be conveyed to make four fighter
reconnaissance Ospreys available for delivery to acao authorities
Hong Kong in Macao or Honduras! On receipt of reply Minister of Colonies
will appoint someone to examine machines and reach agreement
regarding conditions of purchase.
Note is accompanied by letter from Secretary-General explaining
that request has not, in fact, been made by Portuguese Ambassador
owing to an error in transmission of his instructions;
now being made through me to save time.
